The Site Maintenance Director will report directly to the Operations Director of the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center.  This positions primary responsibilities include: facility, property, equipment and vehicle management; general maintenance; public safety and technical support.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work with the Operations Director to oversee maintenance and operational protocols which are consistent with city, county, and state regulations.
  • Operate and keep all physical property and equipment, including motor vehicles and machinery, in safe operating condition.
  • Make regular inspections of property to determine essential repairs and corrective action required.
  • Maintain and repair the facility's structure, machinery, equipment and grounds, including plumbing, electrical, etc.
  • Maintain and keep accurate inventory of shop and property equipment.
  • Collaborate with all staff to ensure long-term strategies are achieved in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Manage maintenance and operations budget.
  • Coordinate work performed by outside vendors as approved by Operations Director.

In relations with the staff:

  • Provide and encourage staff development, education, evaluations, and feedback.
  • Establish relationships and work with Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center Advisory board.
  • Work closely with the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center team, and Orange County Boy Scouts of America staff to support overall operation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years facility management experience.
  • 2 years people management experience.
  • HVAC repair certified preferred
  • Ability to perform a variety of basic maintenance skills, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, with specialized capability in at least one technical skill. Has experience in using hand tools.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in an unstructured environment.
  • Organized, energetic, and a self-starter
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (word and excel)
